Peter Gregg drove this BMW CSL in IMSA competition in 1976, both as a political ploy with Porsche and because he’d just opened a BMW dealership.
I know a lot of people have opinions of Peter Gregg, but I would like to offer an alternative view to Hal Crocker’s recent two-part article, “Peter Perfect.” I first got to know Peter in 1970, then worked for him from 1972 to 1979 as President of Peter H. Gregg, Inc., the Mercedes-Benz, and later BMW, dealership on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville—adjoining Brumos Porsche. I saw and spoke with him on a nearly daily basis, and had intimate knowledge of his businesses and the racing company, Brumos Racing, as well as Peter Gregg Racing (BMW).

It was commonly thought by many that Peter was a rich guy who won races because he had more money than his competitors, but he wasn’t, as his father owned a small business that did not benefit Peter in any way. I am very familiar with the finances of his companies and was an officer of the Holden (his middle name) Company, the holding company for his various businesses.
