Five of these cars were built for racing in 1938—one uniquely for Le Mans—essentially derived from a road-going version of Alfa’s Grand Prix cars. They had very slippery bodies created by Touring of Milan, and featured independent suspension all around, as well as a rear frame that allowed the use of a quick-lift jack.

It was powered by a 220 bhp, straight-8, all-alloy supercharged engine that consisted of two blocks of four cylinders with the OHC being driven from the middle to avoid flexing.
