Brands Hatch’s Paddock Bend

Brands Hatch, on the southern outskirts of London, is a classic Grand Prix circuit in the mold of Spa-Francorchamps, Watkins Glen and Mosport. Which is to say, it’s a true driver’s track.

Turn one at Brands is without question one of the great corners in motorsports. This right-hander’s full name is “Paddock Hill Bend,” but colloquially it’s simply called “Paddock.” Warning: No two-dimensional track map can even begin to hint at this corner’s intricacies. The elevation and camber changes are what distinguish Paddock as one of racing’s most challenging turns. Hopefully, my words will give you a sense of Paddock’s personality…
