Bugatti entered a team of four, 8-cylinder Type 30s for the 1922 French Grand Prix at Strasbourg. Clothed in an aerodynamic body, these new Bugattis quickly earned the nickname “Le Cigar.” It was a successful debut for the car, as from 18 starters only four cars finished the race with three of them being Bugattis, in 2nd, 3rd and 4th places behind the winning Fiat. The 2nd-placed car (No.12) was driven by Pierre De Vizcaya and is pictured here outside the Bugatti showroom on the Champs-Elysees.
