Alfa Romeo had gone from zero to hero and beyond from the 1911 Targa Florio to the 1936 Mille Miglia. Its motor racing exploits were followed by the entire Italian nation as cars like the 1750 Super Sport, 8C 2300 Monza, P2 and then the P3 drove it to the top echelons of the sport and kept it there. The aging P3, however, was feeling the pressure from the German Silver Arrows as it neared the end of its career….
