This 1959 Ambro Chevy vintage race car was purchased by the current owner in 1990.He Is the third owner. The Ambro was originally built by Tom Rutherford in the late fifties and sold to Leonard Janke of Pender Nebraska in the early sixties. The rebuild of the Ambro was started in 1996 with CARS Classic Auto Restorations expertly carrying out the various aspects of converting an old race car into a competitive race car. The Ambro was built by combining a Devin SS frame and running gear, Chevy V8, four speed with an Ambro fiberglass body. When the Ambro was finished a test run was made at the Glenwood Iowa track in the spring of 2006. The full introduction into the national event vintage racing was made in July 2006 at the road America Vintage race in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin. The car ran flawlessly finishing all events and went on to win a first-in-class at the race car Concours sponsored by Road & Track
