The Jaguar D-Type made its public debut at the 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans, where four cars were entered by the factory, including this one for Stirling Moss and Peter Walker. After harrassing the ultimately victorious Ferrari of Froilan Gonzales and Maurice Trintignant in the early going, however, the Jag hit brake problems that delayed its progress and eventually brought about its retirement at about eight-hour mark of the 24 Hours.
