The Giant Killer

Having pulled off his audacious passing move through fence-gate chicane, Wester worked his Porsche hard in the effort to keep Hill and the more powerful Cobra behind him.

The year was 1965 and I was going to drive a ’64 Porsche 904 owned by Porsche Car Pacific, the Northern California Porsche distributor, in a race at Candlestick Park, one that I looked forward to every year.

My friend and crew chief Homer Worth was “the man.” He always adjusted the suspension and air pressure for maximum handling, and always had the car in top shape.
